I’m inspired by the natural world and often my compositions strive to depict some parts of it beauty. I am also affected by the changes that I’ve witnessed in the environment, especially the increasing wildfires experienced in my home state of California. Using those notions of beauty and destruction, I worked with recycling found paper, map and cardboard, tearing and burning them before incorporating them into the piece...building up layers of information like a landscape coming back to life after disaster.

In the past couple of years, women’s rights (some that have been around for decades) have been under attack. The ground is unstable, our bodies and souls are not whole. This piece seeks to represent that struggle. The collaged elements come from some of my past artwork…like a foregone idea resurfacing…yet again.

Positive and Negative. Life and Death. Many contemplate and sometimes struggle with these opposing big ideas. I dealt with these personally while going through the loss of my mother last year. She often thought differently on these things…and I try to take the same paths as difficult as it could be at times.
